Under 16's
Classes for 5- 10 year olds
The classes will focus on stories from Africa, the Caribbean and beyond. Children will learn traditional dances, songs and stories and classes will incorporate various games and exercises to develop drama and personal skills.
Every Sunday 12pm - 1pm from the 18th September. They will cost £5 per class – payable in advance.
Classes for 11- 15 year olds
"Drama Club for 11-15 year olds" will seek to encourage those children who are already interested in performing, with a strong emphasis on developing core acting skills and inspiring confidence. Led by a trained and experienced professional actor and director, we will cover all manner of techniques and craft whilst still adopting a fun approach and challenging the group to develop not only their acting skills, but also their inter-personal skills.
Acting skills we will work on include:
- Devising characters and material from the group members own ideas
- Working with text and helping to build reading confidence
- Workshops on screen acting as well as stage techniques
- Movement development and relation to character
- Improvisation and expression
Personal skills include:
- Encouraging the students to work on their speech and communication skills
- Supporting each other’s ideas and working as a team
- Encouraging them to use their imagination and instincts
- Building self-confidence
- Concentration and focus
- Greater self-awareness and awareness of others
The group will perform a short end of term production which will give them something tangible to use their developing skills towards, and of course, have a lot of fun into the bargain!
The first class will be the 14th September. Every Wednesday from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. Cost is £5 per class – payable in advance.
