FAQ's

Does the play have to be new writing?

No, we like to have a mix of both new writing and existing published plays.  So if there is a well-known One Act play that you would like to try Directing, that is fine.

I’m over 27 years old; can I still enter the Festival?

YES, you can. The new rules simply state that every application must fall into one of three categories: either the director must be under 27, the writer must be under 27 or the entire cast must be under 27. Or any combination of these three.

Does it have to be just one scene?

No, but we advise against lengthy scene changes and we don’t allow intervals.

Can my submission be another performance genre such as musical theatre, physical theatre or devised theatre?

Yes, we accept entries from all performance genres. However we MUST see a copy of the script that will be performed before the deadline.

I am not resident in the UK but I have a script – can I still enter?

Yes by all means send us your script if you are not a UK resident. However please bear in mind that LOST will not be responsible for arranging rehearsal venues, casting, travel arrangements etc.

What happens if I’m offered a slot on the reserve list?

Not every show that applies to enter the Festival finds that if selected, it is able to take up the offer of a slot. Therefore the Festival’s Artistic panel select a number of shows that they feel meet their criteria and ask if they would be happy to be placed on our reserve list. Should any of the 21 shows decide not to take up our offer of a slot in the Festival, a company from the reserve list will be asked if they would like to take their place. The companies on the reserve list will be notified as to whether or not they have been offered a slot by Monday 26th March.
